Hindi Vikas Mandal of NC
Hindi Vikas Mandal of NC (HVM) based in the Raleigh-Triangle area, promotes study and appreciation of Hindi Language, and strives to foster Indian culture and traditions through Hindi. HVM has special focus on the youth for the preservation of Indian heritage. Every year HVM has been organizing Kavi-Sammelan (Poetry Reading); Independence Day Function with over a dozen other Indian organizations of the RTP area participate in this function where HVM takes the lead; celebrates Dushera Festival and a members' picnic. HVM also conducts weekly Hindi classes (10:30 - 11:30am on Sundays) at HSNC for children.
Hindi Vikas Mandal of NC presented their annual Hasya Kavisammelan on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the HSNC Cultural Hall in Morrisville, NC. Featured this year were 3 Poets who offer their own unique perspectives and presentations:
Gaurav Sharma, son of renowned poet Shyamsunder Sharma, and is one of the most popular young humorists in India and is known for his unique style of expressionist comedy rendered through his signature one liners.
Sarvesh Asthana is a famous satirist, highly celebrated Hindi poet of 'Hasya Vyang' and a quick witted manch-sanchalak. He is a law graduate and journalist by profession who is also associated with many charitable organizations in India.
Sonroopa Vishal, a gifted poet known for her melodious voice and spellbinding renditions, is a language and music graduate with a PhD in Hindi literature. freelance writer, director of cultural organization named 'Sanskrati Arts', and is a founder of non-profit social organizations 'Pankh' and 'Srajan'.
Hindi Vikas Mandal (HVM), a Triangle area organization celebrated 71st Independence Day of India on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Eight other Triangle area organizations - AID, Anurag, BANC, RPTMM, Sampige, Sewa Intl, TATA, TCA and TTA joined HVM in organizing the event.
The event started with a parade followed by flag hoisting: US flag by NC Secretary of State, Mrs. Elaine Marshal, NC State flag by Mayor of Morrisville, Mr. Mark Stohlman and the Indian flag by Dr. G. D. Sharma. This was followed by an excellent cultural program by various groups of children. NC Governor, Mr. Roy Cooper & Mrs. Cooper joined during the cultural program and Mr. Cooper addressed the group congratulating them for the Independence Day.
