The 19th annual Festival of India once again brought the colorful, scented, exotic and ancient heritage of India to life for nearly 20,000 attendees from September 14 to 15, 2013. The festival returned to the Belk Theater in downtown Charlotte this year. An outdoor stage and two indoor stages featured myriad dance performances showcasing almost all the regions of India. Vendors lined N. Tryon St. selling clothing, jewelry and of course lots of aromatic food. This year there was collaboration with CMS Middle schools where kids created exhibits of Indian life. As the diverse makeup of India and its denizens continue their march into the 21st Century, the Festival of India in Charlotte also continues to bring the cultural mesh of India to the Queen City.
