East Carolina University will welcome 20 incoming freshmen selected for the prestigious EC Scholars Program for aspiring teachers to future physicians.
The program is a four-year merit scholarship recognizing outstanding academic performance, commitment to community engagement and strong leadership skills.
Recipients are admitted to ECU's Honors College and receive a scholarship for 4 years, along with a stipend for study abroad, for a total value of approximately $61,000.
Ananya Koripella, daughter of Nirmala Koripella, is an officer in the DECA chapter, a mentor for incoming freshman and a member of the National Honor Society at Panther Creek High School. She also plays a significant role in her family business A Plus Tutor USA, is an employee at Chatham Hill Winery and an intern at Generations Family Practice. She plans to major in Public Health Studies at the Honors College at East Carolina University and go on to medical school.
