Charlotte #2 in the U.S. for Economic Growth Potential & in Top 10 for Startups

Business Facilities' 13th Annual Rankings Report, released late July, names Charlotte as the second top metro in the country for Economic Growth Potential (cities greater than 300,000 population) and No. 10 for Startup Growth. The announcement is the second significant economic development accolade in less than a week for the Queen City. Previously, CBRE crowned Charlotte as the top small metro market for tech talent.

“Charlotte is on fire with companies from across the country – and the world – considering relocating or expanding here," said Bob Morgan, Charlotte Chamber CEO and president. “Our diverse and talented workforce combined with favorable business climate, great weather, cultural and sports amenities as well as affordable quality of life make it tough to beat."

Charlotte continues to expand as a rising financial, tech and insurance hub. Earlier this month, Sitehands announced the creation of more than 200 new jobs over the next five years with the decision to locate its global headquarters in Charlotte, and in May, insurance giant AXA announced it will add 550 jobs to its University-area offices to create the largest of its U.S. operations. The completion of the AXA Charlotte campus expansion will bring more than 1,000 jobs including IT, finance, legal, accounting, customer service, human resources and more to the University location. The expansion represents a roughly $18 million investment.

“We believe this is just the beginning of an impressive upswing," added Morgan. “Our recruiters have been extremely busy and there could be more exciting announcements in the near future. Stay tuned."
