WHAT A longer term objective of the Festival, the first of its kind in our region, is to raise the Triangle’s profile nationwide by showing that our region is a national leader not only in cutting-edge research but in bringing that research to market. A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun! Join us for a fabulous week celebrating all aspects of Triangle science and engineering through inspiring lectures, hands-on activities and exhibits, contests, theatre, comedy, poetry, art and music. WHERE WHEN The Triangle Science Festival is a grass-roots community initiative. Our success depends on you! Please get involved by participating.
The Triangle Science Festival is a grass-roots initiative to raise awareness among the public about the role of science in our everyday lives and important science issues. The Festival will achieve this by celebrating the individuals, businesses and institutions that make the Triangle such a great place to do science.
The Triangle Science Festival is open to all, but we are focusing on the three counties in the Piedmont of North Carolina, including Wake, Orange and Durham. The largest cities in the area are Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The hub is Research Triangle Park, base of operations for numerous Fortune 1000 companies but also energetic start-ups, often spun off from research at the area’s colleges and universities, government labs, and industry research centers.
The Triangle Science Festival events will take place September 25 to October 3, 2010, from Saturday to the following week’s Sunday. (Click for preliminary schedule. 175K PDF) Of course, we think we should celebrate science in the Triangle year-round, but we had to start somewhere!
Calling scientists, engineers, doctors and anyone interested in science, medicine and engineering! The Triangle Science Festival is celebrating the individuals, businesses and institutions that make the Triangle such a great place to do science. The goal is to raise awareness among the public about the role of science in our everyday lives and important science issues. You can participate by hosting an event such as a lecture or presentation, lab tour, field trip for school students, hands-on activities or exhibiting at the Festival Expo. Also on the program are contests, theatre, comedy, poetry, art and music. You can also volunteer or sponsor the Festival to promote your organization or business.
